ViaSat-2 is now in orbit

Today at 4:45 PM PDT ViaSat Inc. and Arianespace successfully launched ViaSat-2 into space. ViaSat-2 was carried into orbit aboard Arianespace Ariane 5 ECA heavy lift rocket. The Launch went perfect and set world records for both ViaSat satellite broadband and Arianespace for successfully launching the largest, heaviest ever satellite payload in history in to orbit. ViaSat now has the highest capacity broadband satellite ever made and has far more bandwidth then all other satellites combined. ViaSat-2 has 300 Gbps of throughput, far exceeding all other competitors by a factor of 7X. This means that all our TacSat customers will be benefiting very soon from the goliath ViaSat-2 unmatched performance.

ViaSat-2 will be going through final positioning, solar array deployment and transponder ranging over the next few weeks. Ground station gateways will be aligned and tested and ViaSat network adjustments will be made. We should see ViaSat-2 come fully operational by Dec this year.

Stay tuned for updates! Take a moment and watch history being made! Here is a link to the launch video from today.
